 How does Peltier technology work

The Peltier principle ingeniously unifies both heating and cooling functions within a single system. When a voltage is applied to the contact points of a Peltier element, a portion of the energy transforms into heat, causing one side of the element to heat up. Simultaneously, energy is drawn away from the other side, leading to its cooling. This principle orchestrates a scenario where one side of the element cools while the opposite side heats up concurrently. In a Memmert device, this polarity reversal occurs up to 18,000 times per second, facilitating an exceptionally precise temperature control system. By simply flipping the polarity of the supply voltage, the hot and cold sides of the Peltier element can be interchanged effortlessly.

Advantages of Advanced Peltier Technology

The Advanced Peltier Technology presents several advantages: Peltier devices boast up to seven times greater energy efficiency compared to similar units. They are not only more cost-effective but also offer superior precision, increased power, and quieter operation. These attributes collectively position Peltier technology as an outstanding alternative to compressor-based systems.

Consider our constant climate chamber HPPeco as an example: Leveraging Advanced Peltier Technology, this chamber operates continuously and is approximately 90% more energy-efficient compared to units cooled by compressors. Remarkably, it operates without the need for refrigerants, resulting in a nearly maintenance-free system. Its quiet operation makes it ideal for nurturing living organisms such as insects or zebrafish. This versatile climate chamber finds applications in various fields including cosmetics, food industries, environmental studies, and material testing.
